Acoustic Guitar SummitFeaturing Paul Chasman, Terry Robb, Doug Smith, Mark Hanson (CD)

Bye Bye Blues, Medley: Apache/Good, Bad, and the Ugly, Sunday Sonata, Windy and Warm, Clair de Lune, Sweet Rotunda, Gramma Jean, Steel Guitar Rag, Drake's Passage, Cascade Lightning, Grandpa's Boy, Stars and Stripes Forever, The Water is Wide, Lady Madonna

Four years ago, these four steel string wizards joined to play a December concert in Portland.  They got such an enthusiastic response that the Acoustic Guitar Summit became a much anticipated annual event.

This year, they recorded their first cd, which mirrors their live performances.  On stage, they open as a quartet, playing jazzy tunes such as Bye Bye Blues, the folk ballad The Water is Wide, or something as esoteric as the theme from The Good, Bad, and the Ugly.  From there each guitarist plays a solo set, interspersed with duets.  At the end of the concert, the foursome joins to close the show, and the audience never lets them leave without their rendition of Lady Madonna

The CD captures the loose, improvisational feel of the live performances with fourteen quartet, duet, and solo pieces.  The spirit of fun and musical chemistry is evident throughout.
